Once Norton mobile security application is installed up and running, the first displayed home page will be divided into six buttons such as:

On tapping each button brings a corresponding menu that can be used to swipe to the left or right to cycle through the menus. For ex… on tapping Samsung Galaxy S4’s physical menu button brings out the
Norton mobile security application’s settings menu that consists of few listed or more anti-theft features and other devices contains an in-app menu icon.

Norton mobile security application’s most latest build, 3.8 for Android 4.3 bagged a perfect score on AV-Test’s malware detection scan that detected 100 percent of the 2,191 types of malware, McAfee and Kaspersky also bagged the perfect scores but Avast gained the scores of 99.4% and 98.7%, respectively.
Norton mobile security application did not helps in the detection of the well-known EICAR test virus, upon after multiple scans, which have been downloaded using mobile Chrome browser. When analyzed for the cause of the detection failure, a representative from the Norton company narrated that the Norton mobile security application doesn’t scan “.com” files that meant a type of DOS executable file like the EICAR test virus as because it don’t make any dangerous affects to Android devices.
Also, it is found that Norton mobile security application brings down the phone’s performance during a malware scan and when tested with Samsung Galaxy S4, it scored:

- 2,322 after installation

Norton mobile Security’s anti-theft features provides a four-digit passcode for locking and unlocking the phone or tablet. To lock the device remotely:
- visit Norton’s Web portal (https://mobilesecurity.norton.com/)
- generates “scream” – sounding a klaxon-like alarm
- locate it via GPS
- wipe it of all personal data such as:
- contact information
- call history
- back up its contacts.
Norton mobile Security application’s anti-theft features can be activated by texting commands like “lock” or “scream,” that is followed by four-digit PIN to the phone.
Norton mobile Security application’s last anti-theft feature – Sneak Peek, remotely takes a photo with the device’s front-facing camera and these photos would appear right in the Web portal even-though the portal allows the storage of 10 most latest images and this Sneak Peek feature can’t be activated via texting.
Norton mobile Security application’s Backup feature allows to upload the android phone’s contacts to Norton’s servers, which can also be used to restore contacts to a device and the app doesn’t back up any other content.
Norton mobile Security application’s Call Blocking feature allows to create a “Block List” of numbers that disactivates the calling and texting on the phone and helps in the spam elimination.
Norton mobile Security application’s additional anti-theft features are available in Norton mobile security’s settings menu that can be founded by tapping the Android device’s menu button and in some devices, it is found in the in-app menu button. The users can activate the SIM Card Lock, that will lock the device if its SIM card is removed or set the device to wipe itself after 10 failed unlock attempts.
